Life is a Gift

Today before you think of saying an unkind word–
think of someone who can’t speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food–
think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife–
think of someone who is crying out to God for a companion.
Today before you complain about life–
think of someone who went too early to heaven.
Before you complain about your children–
think of someone who desires children but they’re barren.
Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn’t clean or sweep–
think of the people who are living in the streets.
Before whining about the distance you drive–
think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.
And when you are tired and complain about your job–
think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another–
remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down–
put a smile on your face and thank God you’re alive and still around.
Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, and Fulfill it.

HEALTH TIP

                                                     Get spiritual!

There are mysteries in prayer. A study conducted by the formidably sober and scientific Harvard University found that patients who were prayed for recovered quicker than those who weren’t, even if they weren’t aware of the prayer. When you wake up, pray to God for a sound health and believe that it belongs to you. Whatsoever you desire, when you ask in prayer and believe, it will definitely be yours.

If you are reading this and you are being faced with one ailment or the other, my prayer is that God shall grant you a quick recovery. There might be limitations to what doctors will do but there is no limitation to what God will do.  Therefore, let the sick say "I am healed".

It is well.

U.S freezes N75.34 billion Abacha’s loot

The United States has frozen more than $458 million (about N75,340,000,000) that former Nigerian leader Sani Abacha and his conspirators obtained through corruption and hid in bank accounts around the world, the U.S. Justice Department said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement the stash in Britain, France and Jersey were frozen at Washington’s request with the help of local authorities.

A civil forfeiture complaint unsealed in the US District Court in Washington, the department wants to recover more than $550m in connection with the action.
“This is the largest civil forfeiture action to recover the proceeds of foreign official corruption ever brought by the department,” said Mythili Raman, acting assistant attorney general. “General Abacha was one of the most notorious kleptocrats in memory, who embezzled billions from the people of Nigeria, while millions lived in poverty.”
About $313 million were restrained in bank accounts in the Bailiwick of Jersey and $145 million were restrained in bank accounts in France, the department said in a statement.
The seizure comes less than a week after President Goodluck Jonathan honoured the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, with an award for “his contributions to the nation” at the Nigeria Centenary celebration.
Abacha died in 1998 at age 54. Nigeria has for years been fighting to recover his money, but companies linked to the Abacha family have gone to court to prevent repatriation.

Nigeria may evacuate citizens from Ukraine

The federal government is closely monitoring the security situation in Ukraine and  will evacuate Nigerians living in the European country should the crisis there escalates.
Prof. Viola Onwuliri, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave the assurance during a dinner for workers in the ministry’s offices in Abuja on Tuesday. She noted that there are about 7000 Nigerians in Ukraine.

“The Nigerian Embassy in Ukraine is in touch with our nationals in Ukraine and if the situation demands, we may have to evacuate,’’ she said.
On the presence of Russian forces in Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula, Onwuliri said Nigeria was a “non-aligned nation’’ and would not support any party in the ongoing dispute in Ukraine.
“We will always study situations before we draw conclusions. That is what we are doing at this time,’’ she said.
Russian forces have occupied Crimea, surrounding airports and military bases in spite of wide-range condemnation from the U.S., EU countries and Canada.

Breakthrough in long-lasting AIDS drugs in monkeys

Culled from Vanguard, a single shot of antiretroviral drugs protected lab monkeys from the AIDS virus for weeks, according to two US trials released on Tuesday that open the way to tests on humans.
In separate work, two teams of virologists found that monkeys which received a monthly injection of a prototype drug were completely shielded from the simian equivalent of HIV.

The research builds on previous trials showing that people who take a small daily doses of antiretroviral drugs can slash their risk of being infected by an HIV-positive partner by more than 90 percent.
But this protection was far lower when participants failed to take the drugs each day, highlighting the need for a monthly or quarterly injection to avert the problem.
In one of the studies, conducted at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), researchers gave a monthly shot of an experimental, delayed-effect antiretroviral drug called GSK744 to six female monkeys. continue.........

President Jonathan's Broadcast of Centenary Celebrations.

This national broadcast by Pres. Jonathan on the occasion of Nigeria’s Centenary Celebrations
Dear Compatriots,

1.  I extend warm greetings and felicitations to all Nigerians as we celebrate our nation’s centenary; a significant milestone in our journey to Nationhood.

 2. One hundred years ago, on the 1st of January 1914, the British Colonial authorities amalgamated the Southern and Northern Protectorates, giving birth to the single geo-political entity called Nigeria which has become our home, our hope, and our heritage.
 3. I have often expressed the conviction that our amalgamation was not a mistake. While our union may have been inspired by considerations external to our people; I have no doubt that we are destined by God Almighty to live together as one big nation, united in diversity.
4. I consider myself specially privileged to lead our country into its second century of existence. And as I speak with you today, I feel the full weight of our hundred-year history. But what I feel most is not frustration, it is not disillusionment. What I feel is great pride and great hope for a country that is bound to overcome the transient pains of the moment and eventually take its rightful place among the greatest nations on earth. China is spying on you through your KETTLE: Bugs that scan wi-fi devices found in imported kitchen gadgets

Russian investigators claim to have found household appliances imported from China which contain hidden microchips that pump spam data and malware into wi-fi networks.
Authorities in St Petersburg allegedly discovered 20 to 30 kettles and irons with 'spy microchips that send some data to the foreign server', according to Russian media.
The revelation comes just as the EU launches an investigation into claims that Russia itself bugged gifts to delegates at last month's G20 summit in an attempt to retrieve data from computers and telephones.

This has led to speculation that the chips allegedly found in the home appliances may also have the ability to steal data and send it back to Chinese servers.
The allegations against the Chinese were made in St Petersburg news outlet Rosbalt, which quotes a source from customs broker Panimport, but does not detail what data was being sent or to where. Continue...........

MYSTERY TODAY! DEDE KOSWARA of INDONESIA: THE TREE MAN.

What a world of mysteries!
For the purpose of those who have not read about this man, here is the story......

Dede Koswara of Indonesia was born like every other child so sweet and cute.

His hands looked like contorted, yellow-brown branches extending 3 feet. Unable to clamp his hands into a fist or pick up a fork, he made his living by performing in carnivals in rural Indonesia. He became known as the Treeman.
The story of Dede’s condition begins when he was 10 years old. Whilst out in the forest near his home on the island of Java in Indonesia, Dede cut his knee whilst out in the forest. Shortly afterwards, small warts sprouted around the wound, which eventually spread to his feet and hands.
As he grew older, his warts continued to grow. Eventually the sheer number and size of them meant that his ability to carry out his job as a tradesman suffered, and though the warts didn’t hurt or itch, they gave off a sickening odour. At 28, Dede’s wife of 10 years left him as he became unable to work to support her and their two children.
